Help and scholarships.

Different support schemes exist depending on the level and type of training. Here are the details by pathway, with links to official procedures.

School maintenance grant

You can benefit from a secondary school grant if your family's income allows it. This grant is awarded based on your household income, number of dependent children and your personal circumstances, in order to reduce the costs associated with schooling.

School meals assistance

Restoration aid may be granted to Year 8 and Year 9 pupils living in the Nord department. In September, families receive a letter asking them to provide a copy of their tax assessment notice. Allocation then depends on a scale set by the Nord Departmental Council. Contact: College Secretariat, Ms Séverine Marson – 03 20 84 27 32.

Merit-based social fund

In addition to government assistance and the APEIG grants, the Institut de Genech Group offers, subject to conditions, a Merit-based social fund intended for families experiencing financial difficulties. This school-specific financial aid is allocated based on social criteria and an overall assessment of the learner (academic results, behaviour, commitment and involvement in school life).

Ministry of Agriculture Scholarships

National social-criteria grant for pupils attending a school under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Agriculture. Allocated on the basis of household income, the number of dependent children and individual circumstances. Applications must be submitted to the school each year. State school grants

Sixth form college grant for students enrolled in an institution under the supervision of the’Department for Education. Granted based on household income and family circumstances. Annual renewal. Contact: Secretariat: Ms Anne-Sophie Allard – 03 20 84 27 33.

Merit scholarships

If you are in receipt of a scholarship and obtained a merit grade Well or Very Good for the Brevet des collèges, you can receive an additional grant known as a «merit scholarship», upon presentation of your transcript. This financial assistance is for pupils committed to a General A-levels awarded upon entry into Year 11, it can be maintained until Year 13 provided the student retains their scholarship status. Hauts-de-France Generation Card

Financial support from the Hauts-de-France Region to fund textbooks, school supplies and equipment: 100 € for starting Year 11, 55 € for continuing education. Can be used with approved partners.

Secondary School Social Fund

In the event of financial difficulties whilst at school, one-off financial assistance may be granted for the transport, the’accommodation, the’power supply, the care or other daily needs. To benefit from this, submit a High School Social Fund application to the accounts department: Mrs Corine Louchart.

Ministry of Agriculture Scholarships

National social-criteria grant for pupils attending a school under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Agriculture. Awarded according to household income, the number of dependent children and your situation. The application must be made each year with the establishment (Cerfa form). Génération Card (1st year of apprenticeship)

The Hauts-de-France Region grants in 1st year of apprenticeship a Generation card to the value of 200 €. It makes it possible to finance the purchase of equipment or supplies needed for the training.

Merit-based social fund

Means-tested grants (CROUS)

CROUS grants based on household income, family circumstances and geographical distance. Financial support to help cover accommodation, food, transport, etc. Application to be renewed annually, compiling the Student Social File (DSE) before 31 May.

SNCF Youth Advantage Card

Discounts on train journeys with SNCF cards and offers. The card Youth Advantage helps reduce travel costs, sometimes as low as -75 % depending on the conditions and routes.

CROUS catering (scholarship holders)

If you are a scholarship holder, you can benefit from access to catering services at reduced rate (subsidised CROUS meal).

Student card

Discounts (restaurants, cinemas, transport, museums, etc.) throughout the country. Valid one year, renewable. Issued automatically by the training provider.

Parcoursup mobility grant

If you are a baccalaureate student receiving a grant and change your local education authority To help with your studies, you can receive financial support of 500 €.

Personalised Housing Benefit (APL)

Housing Benefit paid by the CAF to reduce the amount of student rent, depending on your circumstances and means.

Génération Card (1st year)

Generation Card with a value of 200 € in the first year of the apprenticeship, to fund equipment and supplies.

Driving licence grants

Financial aid offered by the Hauts-de-France Region covering up to 90 % of the licence fee (theory test and practical driving lessons) or just the practical lessons if you have already passed your theory test. €850 for adult apprentices, €1,350 for underage apprentices.

Apprentices' Solidarity Fund (FSA)

Available funds to respond to urgent or exceptional needs related to housing, health, food, travel or equipment.

Regional Business Takeover Scheme (contract termination)

Continued training for 3 to 6 months For any young person who has terminated their apprenticeship contract and is looking for a new one. Remuneration covered by the Region, subject to the approval of the director of the CFA.

On the road to employment

The Region makes vehicles available for £1 per day worked (company and apprentice training centre). Insurance covered by the Region. Valid 1 month, renewable once.

Transport, accommodation and catering

Flat-rate financial aid: up to €80 per year for accommodation, up to €100 per year for meals, up to €200 for transport depending on the distance between home and the CFA.

Housing benefits (APL + Action Logement)

Housing benefit depending on your situation, schemes offered by Action Logement.

Apprentice student card

Discounts (restaurants, cinemas, transport, museums, etc.) throughout the country. Valid for 1 year, renewable. Issued automatically by the institution.

Working tax credit

Depending on your circumstances and your income, you may be eligible for the Working tax credit paid by the CAF.

Merit-based social fund

Personal Training Account

Use your CPF to fund all or part of your training. Available to employees, jobseekers and the self-employed. Rights accumulated each year, available throughout your working life.

Employer and OPCO funding

Eligible for coverage under skills development plan of your company, funding OPCO (Skills Operators), or specific schemes of career change.

France Travail grants

For job seekers: full or partial funding, allowance during the training (AREF), with additional individual training support (AIF).

Regional grants (PRF)

Schemes funded by the Hauts-de-France Region as part of the Regional Training Programmes. Funding of qualifying training courses according to local needs and opportunities for a return to work.

Pay during training

Depending on your situation: AREF (Return-to-Work and Training Allowance), RFF/R2F (End-of-Training Allowance), or a training allowance paid by France Travail.

Mobility aids

Depending on your training and status, supplementary financial aid for expenses transport, accommodation and meals.
