Understand, install, size and optimise landscape irrigation systems by integrating hydraulic constraints, responsible water management and the choice of suitable technical solutions.

I. Essential hydraulic basics

  • Flow rate, pressure, pressure drop
  • Simple diagram of an irrigation system
  • How to read an irrigation plan

II. The fundamentals of efficient and responsible watering

  • Plant water requirements according to space typologies
  • Calculation of rainfall and uniformity
  • Responsible irrigation management:
  • Periods, quantities, restrictions, night watering
  • Seasonal bans / drought management
  • Introduction to water-saving probes and tools

III. Watering solutions: choice, installation and adjustments

  • 1. Overhead irrigation
  • Nozzle types and settings
  • Overlaps and homogeneity
  • Practical example: setting a sector
  • 2. Pop-up irrigation
  • Installation of a system (solenoid valves, manifolds, controllers, wiring)
  • On-site installation steps

IV. Pumps: selection, installation and safety

  • Simplified calculation of total head loss
  • Essential safety measures:

V. Programmers and automation

  • Mechanical, electronic, Wi-Fi timers
