The training

Objectives

The AE (Animateur d’Équitation - Riding Instructor) qualification enables individuals to acquire the knowledge and skills of the profession in line with several professional objectives:

To receive the public
Assist with the management and running of an equestrian centre under the supervision of a BP JEPS or DE JEPS qualified instructor
To maintain a cavalry

Programme

BLOCK 1: Participate in the operation and maintenance of the equestrian facility

Contribute to reception, hosting, and promotion to optimise customer satisfaction and the operation of the equestrian centre, drawing on the establishment's project.
Participate in the organisation and management to guarantee customer satisfaction and the optimal functioning of the equestrian facility by referring to the regulations and instructions provided.
To carry out maintenance on the equestrian centre’s facilities and equipment to ensure their longevity and availability, whilst complying with regulations and safety standards.

UNIT 2: Leading and supervising equestrian activities safely

Design equestrian activity learning situations tailored to the needs of riders to enable their progression by relying on the tools made available.
To run a safe riding session to maximise riders’ progress whilst ensuring the horses’ welfare.
Make equestrian practices safe to guarantee the physical and moral integrity of riders, horses and third parties by complying with established procedures.

UNIT 3: Ensure the management and maintenance of the riding school horses, in accordance with animal welfare and the care provided to them

To provide care for equines in order to safeguard their health and physical and mental wellbeing by implementing appropriate health measures.
Monitor the riding school horses to ensure their welfare, physical health and well-being in accordance with the instructions provided.
To oversee the maintenance of the school’s horses with a view to ensuring they are used to the full by riders, whilst preserving their physical and mental well-being.

Rhythm

Monday and Tuesday: in-house training
The rest of the week: practical training at a company or riding centre, depending on the host organisation’s schedule

For 12 months: 7 200 €

(Training costs are covered by OPCOs and funding obtained by the CFA. There is therefore no remaining cost for the apprentice and the company.).

Prerequisite

To take the course, candidates must:

Be at least 18 years of age on the date the exam is marked
Hold a PSC (Prévention et Secours Civiques) certificate or equivalent
Hold a valid federal competition licence
Having signed an apprenticeship contract in an equestrian centre holding the EFE (École Française d’Équitation) label
Hold a Stage 6 riding test issued by the French Equestrian Federation (FFE)

Notes:

Applicants must hold the Gallop 5 to access the AE interview test
The Stage 6 riding test is required in order to sit the final exam

Interview within 30 days of initial contact
Practical riding tests to assess specific skills

Assessment methods

Final examination at the end of the course, in accordance with the procedures laid down by the French Equestrian Federation (FFE)
All Competence Certificates (BC) must be validated in order to obtain the qualification
