The training

Objectives

Year 10 is a transition and guidance year, which helps build the foundations needed to succeed in Year 11 and define one's study path.

COMMON CORE GENERAL EDUCATION

A year of discovery and change, the young person will test their tastes and aptitudes. Working methods evolve: more independence, documentary research and a greater emphasis on personal study. They refine their choices which will lead them towards a general or technological track and the choice of specialist subjects.

  • Modern Foreign Language A and Modern Foreign Language B 5.5 hours
  • Economic and Social Sciences 1h30
  • Mathematics 4 hours
  • Physics - Chemistry 3h
  • Life and Earth Sciences (SVT) 1h30
  • Physical Education and Sport 2 hours
  • Moral and Civic Education 0.5 hours
  • Digital Sciences and Technology 1.5 hours

OPTIONAL SUBJECTS

Pupils can choose a general or technological optional subject in each group:

GROUP 1

  • Physical Education and Sports 3h(incompatible with equine studies and Spanish bilingual section)
  • Ecology - Agronomy - Territories - Sustainable Development 2h
  • Science and laboratory 1h30

GROUP 2

  • European Section – English (DNL* History/Geography, Physics/Chemistry and Life and Earth Sciences): 1 hour

CLIL and 1 hour of language

  • European Section – German (DNL*SES): 2 hours
  • Spanish European Section (CLIL* PE) : 2 hours(incompatible with Physical Education and Sport)
  • Latin America : 2h
  • Equine Science - Horse Riding: 2.5 hours(incompatible with Physical Education and Sport)

AND THE POSSIBILITY OF

  • Preparation for Model United Nations 1h/week
  • CERTILINGUA Certification
  • Preparation for the Cambridge and DELE exams
  • DNL: Non-linguistic discipline

Year 10 students undertake a compulsory two-week work experience placement at the end of June.

  • Eliott An artificial intelligence-based educational assistant, Eliott supports pupils in all subjects, including modern languages. A true tutor, he guides the pupil through their reasoning without giving away the answers directly. Access to him is included in the tuition fees
  • MathLive — MathLive is a platform dedicated to mathematics, offering interactive exercises and personalised support to help students progress at their own pace and prepare for assessments. Access to the platform is also included in the tuition fees

What next?

Further study

The Year 10 student will thus go on to choose either a General Baccalaureate or a Technological Baccalaureate.

In the general stream, sixth-formers will sit a single A-level examination, choosing from 10 different specialisms.

In the technology stream, they will have a choice between:

  • The Ministry of Agriculture’s Technical Baccalaureate: the STAV (Agricultural and Life Sciences and Technologies)
    • in agricultural production
    • or the development and enhancement of spaces
    • or biotechnology - food
  • or even a National Education Technological Baccalaureate at another institution

career prospects

This training course allows students to continue their studies (general or technological baccalaureate) leading to numerous professional sectors (healthcare, commerce, engineering, law, etc.).

Pupils leaving year 10, having a sufficient standard in general subjects and wishing to continue their studies at a secondary school in a general or technological pathway, with a view to obtaining the baccalaureate and possibly higher education.

Having validated the Year 9 class, have a solid grounding in the core subjects and be able to work independently and diligently.

Admission to the 2nde GT class will be granted subject to a favourable recommendation from the guidance committee at the end of Year 3 at the student’s current school. It is recommended that you complete a pre-enrolment application fairly early on in Year 3 by making an appointment with the 2nde GT administrative assistant.
