The training

Level 5 State Diploma, issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty. Registered in the RNCP on 10/10/2022 under number 36936.

Objectives

The BTSA in Agronomy and Sustainable Crops trains professionals capable of innovating in the fields of plant production, experimentation and agricultural advisory services, in response to the challenges of the agro-ecological transition.

Training in agricultural innovation in the fields of research, experimentation, crop production and advice
Understand and manage crop production (industrial and vegetable crops), from seed production to their valorisation within supply chains
Mastering agronomic basics by placing soil health at the heart of technical and strategic decisions
Analyse environmental issues and integrate societal expectations into production systems
Develop strong scientific, technical and interpersonal skills through practical professional scenarios
Develop the mindset of a technician-adviser capable of supporting farmers in the agroecological transition

Rhythm

School

12 to 16 weeks' work placement in France or abroad:

Minimum of 3 weeks on a farm (1st year)
Minimum of 8 weeks' work experience in plant production: seed companies, cooperatives, merchant businesses, Chambers of Agriculture, experimental centres, technical institutes, etc. (1st year)
1 week in agriculture innovation groups (2nd year)
Customisable internship of 1 week minimum, based on the student's ambitions and career plan (in 1st and/or 2nd year)

APPRENTICESHIP

On average 15 days in a training centre, then 15 days in the company

Teaching resources and methods

Regular professional role-plays and learning by doing
Active project-based pedagogy, group work and problem-based learning
Observations and expert assessments in the field (farms, trials, field operations)
Company visits, agricultural holdings visits and trade fairs
Use of professional educational equipment: farm, laboratories (including in vitro), specialised technical facilities
Collaboration with professional partners (seed companies, alumni network, agricultural sector stakeholders)
Support for professional integration and further study (fairs, job dating, post-BTS preparation)
Possibility of certifications and additional training (TOEIC, Certiphyto, technical certificates, etc.)

Students retraining for careers in agriculture and plant sciences

Prerequisite

Holding at least a degree in Level 4 (A-level)
For apprenticeships: aged between 16 and 29 (exemptions possible in certain situations)
