The training

Objectives

Whether they already have a career path in mind or are still considering their options, Year 9 and Year 10 pupils in agricultural education at the Groupe Institut de Genech welcome young people from Year 8 or Year 9 who share an interest in nature and the living world.

These classes aim to restore a taste and enjoyment for learning by supporting each pupil, identifying their difficulties and helping them to make progress. They offer a pathway to success open to everyone, enabling them to develop their skills, gradually define a career plan and strengthen their knowledge in general subjects. The emphasis is on preparation for further study and professional integration, while valuing everyone's potential and achievements through practical work and work experience placements.

In addition to general education, pupils discover environment-related professions as part of practical interdisciplinary projects (EPI), thanks to our farms and educational resources. They thus explore various sectors such as plants, animals, agriculture, landscape design, horticulture, processing and even retail.

These hands-on experiences enable them to better understand jobs related to the environment, agriculture and services, and to gradually build their career path.

Young people in Year 7 or Year 8 who share an interest in nature and living things.

Pre-enrolment takes place from January onwards, either by appointment or during the Open Day.

For the Genech site, it is accompanied by an invitation to take part in a two-day work experience placement at the school during the spring half-term or at the end of June.

This taster session, which offers an insight into the school and its resources, lessons and practical activities, concludes with an individual interview with the child and, in most cases, an offer of a place. It is then up to the families to confirm the enrolment.

The secondary school years culminate in a major national examination: the Diplôme National du Brevet (DNB). Passing this examination is based on an assessment of the skills and knowledge acquired throughout a pupil’s school career.

The DNB is awarded to candidates who have achieved a final average of 10 out of 20 or above. The final mark is made up of:

  • continuous assessment, calculated on the basis of the annual averages for all subjects in Year 9 (all weighted equally), accounting for 40 % of the final mark; ;
  • final examinations, which account for 60 % of the final mark, in French, History and Geography / Moral and Civic Education (EMC), Mathematics and Science (Physics and Chemistry, and Biology and Ecology); ;
  • of an oral exam, concerning the presentation of a project carried out in Year 9 or Year 10
  • Premises: Fire safety regulations for public buildings (ERP) – Premises accessible to people with reduced mobility
  • Possible academic guidance and adaptation, mentored by a disability officer
