The training

Level 4 State Diploma, issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty. Registered in the RNCP under number 38857

Objectives

Implement and reason through the various practices related to the creation or maintenance of a green space or garden by applying current regulations and taking environmental quality into account
Organise the work following a construction site approach
Intervene on plant life (plant knowledge, appropriate care...)
Use and maintain equipment (tractor, mini-excavator, loaders, etc.)
Work on the landscaped area
Calculate and track construction site costs
Leading a team and communicating

Rhythm

School

Work placements in a professional environment range from 18 to 22 weeks over the three years of training:

6 to 7 weeks in Year 11; ;
14 weeks spread over the First and Final years of Sixth Form

APPRENTICESHIP

Alternating on an average schedule of one week at the CFA and one week in the workplace.

What next?

Further study

The Vocational Baccalaureate in Landscaping also aims to enable further study, either through the school system or via an apprenticeship, towards higher-level qualifications.

Holders of a vocational baccalaureate can go on to study BTS courses, professional bachelor’s degrees or, depending on their chosen path, master’s degrees or engineering schools.

Some examples of available training courses:

Specialist Certificates (CS): sports grounds and golf-related trades, tree pruning, landscape construction, etc.

The Vocational Baccalaureate in Landscape Gardening enables students to enter the world of work straight away and offers numerous opportunities in the landscaping sector, both in the private sector and in public organisations.

Graduates can pursue careers in the following fields:

Highly skilled landscape gardener, specialising in the maintenance and creation of green spaces and sports pitches
Qualified landscape worker or team leader, with responsibility for 2 to 3 people
Landscape contractor, having gained professional experience
Specialist technician (tree pruning, automatic watering systems, golf course maintenance, environmental issues, etc.)
Landscape gardener working for a local authority or a private organisation
Sales assistant and advisor in a garden centre, nursery or specialist shop

This qualification also paves the way for technical roles relating to the environment and the sustainable planning of landscaped areas.

* Base rate including family contributions and/or meals and/or accommodation depending on the learner's status. Additional fees not included. Payable over 10 months.

APPRENTICESHIP

For 12 months: 8 200 €

(Training costs are covered by OPCOs and funding obtained by the CFA. There is therefore no remaining cost for the apprentice and the company.).

Target audience

School route: aimed primarily at young people aged 15 to 18 from a Year 9 class or a general or technological Year 11
APPRENTICESHIP: open to young people aged 15 to 29, with possible exceptions in certain specific circumstances (for example, people with RQTH status)

Prerequisite

The course is open to candidates who meet one of the following criteria, depending on whether they are following a school-based or apprenticeship pathway:

To come from a Year 9 class general
Or hold a CAPA Landscaping works
Or be enrolled at second, first or final year general education
Or be in the process of changing career direction or retraining

Exceptions regarding age and qualifications may be granted depending on the candidate’s profile.

Access conditions

SCHOOL: Pre-enrolment is available from November, by appointment or during the Open Days
APPRENTICESHIP: An interview is carried out within 30 days following the initial contact. There is the option to book a collective information session.

Assessment methods

School

Continuous assessment and final exams after the three-year training period
Work placement periods are the subject of a portfolio, which the pupil must present as part of the exam

APPRENTICESHIP

The course is assessed using two complementary methods, each accounting for 50 % of the final mark:

Contrôle en Cours de Formation (CCF): regular assessments throughout the course
Terminal Modular Assessments (EPT): final examinations used to validate acquired skills
